President Trump will announce a trade deal with the United Kingdom on Thursday morning, the first bargain struck since he announced his reciprocal tariff scheme last month.

The president, in a post on Truth Social, described the forthcoming agreement as “full and comprehensive,” and signaled it would be the first of many deals to come with foreign trading partners as the Trump administration grapples with an unstable economy amid the trade war.

On Capitol Hill, several administration officials are set to testify in Senate budget hearings, a return trip this week for many.

FBI Director Kash Patel will appear before an Appropriations subcommittee at 9 a.m. EDT, and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will testify in front of a different Appropriations panel at 10 a.m. EDT.

Also on the Hill: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. He will appear at a Senate Commerce Committee hearing on artificial intelligence at 10 a.m. EDT.

Meanwhile, House Republicans continue their week of jockeying to find common ground on a reconciliation bill to kick Trump’s agenda into gear. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) says it will be ready for Memorial Day, which is less than three weeks away.

Follow along all day for updates.
