LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -“We really are the cradle of independence and this nation and people have come here. What we’ve noticed now as far as our tourist pool, people travel here for historicals,” explained Jose Filomeno, Partner at Lake George Beach Club and Village Trustee.
Lake George businesses like the Beach Club said they’re always looking to be open all year long. But in reality, there’s about four to five months of great sales. “The Fourth of July for us… Honestly, our sales in this given weekend usually is what the sales will be for an entire month,” said Filomeno.
When tourists aren’t spending time learning about the area’s role in the Revolutionary War, some told NEWS10’s Anthony Krolikowski they are here for the many ways to enjoy the nice weather.
“What’s your favorite part of being out here today?” asked Krolikowski.
“The beach! It’s so fun,” said Victor DeMarco.
“It’s like a small-town feel here even though there’s a lot of people of course because it’s the holiday but it’s a really nice vibe here. Lots of nice areas to eat, have a nice drink and just relax,” described Joanna from New Jersey.
Local officials want everyone to relax responsibly. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office and State Police will be on the roads and water to stop drunk drivers and boaters.
“Surrounding the lake, we’ve talked to some neighbors and they’re very considerate of each other when they have their watercraft out there,” stated Michael Posniak from Long Island.
