A man from Tulare County was arrested Friday afternoon after he allegedly pointed a loaded handgun at a couple and their infant child during a road rage incident in Ventura.
According to the Ventura Police Department, it happened around 3:15 p.m. Friday when a 24-year-old man, his 25-year-old wife, and their infant child were traveling westbound on the 126 Freeway.
The family says the suspect, identified as Donovan Jensen, 36, of Exeter, began tailgating them aggressively for several miles.
Both vehicles eventually exited at Wells Road and continued southbound into the city.
The victim told police that Jensen pulled alongside their vehicle and, during a verbal exchange, pointed a handgun at the family, screamed at them, and then drove off.
The family later called 911 to report what had happened.
Ventura police officers located Jensen driving nearby and conducted a traffic stop, at which point they confirmed that Jensen was in possession of a loaded handgun, which he legally owned, and carried a valid concealed carry permit.
Through their investigation, police determined that Jensen had in fact pointed the firearm at the family.
He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment, and was booked into the Ventura County Jail, police said.
