About 300 Inland Empire families received boxes of shelf-stable food, fresh produce and whole hams in a special Mother’s Day drive-thru event held last Friday.

The two-hour distribution was organized to bring some relief and holiday comfort to families facing food insecurity.

Feeding America Riverside | San Bernardino hosted the giveaway at its Riverside warehouse, where preregistered households lined up by car and received food directly from staff and volunteers.

“While donations have declined, the need in our community remains as urgent as ever, especially for mothers and grandmothers working hard to keep their families fed,” said FARSB CEO Carolyn Fajardo. “We’re deeply grateful for the support that made it possible to bring this special holiday weekend distribution to those who need it most.”

The event was made possible through support from Spark Good Local Community Grants awarded by various Walmart stores across the region. It was held in addition to FARSB’s regular food distributions and ongoing hunger-relief programs in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
