A quick-hitting storm brought rain to Southern California on Sunday and dumped several inches of snow on the San Bernardino Mountains. Now, forecasters are monitoring another storm system slated to arrive midweek.
Snowplows were seen clearing the roads in the Running Springs area early Monday morning after the overnight snowfall. A winter weather advisory remains in effect for areas of the San Bernardino and Riverside county mountains until 4 p.m.
The system is moving out of the area Monday morning, but below-average temperatures are expected to linger.
Gusty afternoon winds may also continue throughout the day, as a wind advisory is in place through 3 a.m. Tuesday and a high wind warning is in place through 4 a.m.
“That’s ahead of our next major storm system that arrives between Tuesday night and Thursday,” KTLA’s Kirk Hawkins said.
The midweek storm system is expected to be more powerful than Sunday’s and bring periods of moderate rain, mountain snow, and gusty winds, according to the National Weather Service.

“Rainfall amounts with the storm look to range between 0.50 to 1.00 inch across the coast and valleys with up to 1.00 to 3.00 inches in the mountains,” the Weather Service stated.
A storm is also predicted to move over the region early next week.
