UPDATE at 8 p.m. on 11-3-25: SUNY Morrisville announced that the shelter-in-place has been lifted for all of campus except Onondaga and South Halls.
In a briefing by New York State Police, officials said the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. and was believed to be a single-targeted event.
The 20-year-old sent to the hospital sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials said they are not releasing any information regarding a suspect at this time, as the investigation remains ongoing.
SUNY Morrisville has canceled classes for Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Students displaced from Onondaga and South Halls as a result of the investigation can visit the Rec Center for food.

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A 20-year-old man was shot in the neck inside a building on the campus of SUNY Morrisville, forcing the campus into lockdown
New York State Police are leading the investigation into the shooting that took place in South Hall. They still do not have the suspected shooter in custody.
The 20-year-old man was not a student, police said. The extent of his injuries and his condition were not shared by troopers.
A spokesperson for SUNY Morrisville confirms the incident is not considered an “active shooter” situation. An “active shooter” implies an ongoing threat by a gunman openly and randomly firing.
South Hall is located on the back of the campus near the pond.
As a result of the incident, Morrisville Elementary was placed on lockdown as well.
