TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -Hudson Valley Community College held a groundbreaking ceremony for its largest project yet on Thursday morning. Named the Applied Technology Education Center (ATEC), it’s shaping up to be a hub of skilled labor.

The $64 million facility will resupply the workforce in what’s considered by many as the trades, now applied technology, as those retiring aren’t being replaced and vacancies pile up. Inside will be the latest tools and resources for careers in building systems, automotive and transportation technologies, renewable energy and more.

ATEC is expected to open in the fall of 2027. Classes are still being held at the current building, Williams Hall. It will eventually be torn down, expanding the parking lot.
